Sleeping under the sky

Hi,
do you have experience (or have you seen any pilgrim) with sleeping under the sky? Just like this... no tent... In case if the albergues are full, is it possible to lay down somewhere (e.g. on the pasture)? I wouldn't mind that.
Thanks,
Lana

there are some albergues or refugios that have "tent space" on premises, and i have seen people use them. But generally speaking it is hard to find clear empty ground near a center that is not weed covered and safe enough to sleep under the stars. But between villages there is plenty of vacant farm or pasture land ,wide open and exposed , but perhaps safe enough to park in if you were out of sight and in a group. Many refugios offer floor space if they are full and at least you get a roof and shower. Darrell

Hi Lana,
you ask about sleeping under the sky! Last year I did the Camino Frances from St Jean - Finisterre and on one occassion only I slept under the sky. A small mountain or hill just the other side of Castrojeriz I spent the night there with a fellow pilgrim. It did get a bit cold but that was because we where perched high. I also met a girl who slept in the butterfly woods just between Villafranca montes de oca and Atapuerca. If you can do it with a fellow pilgrim it would be better though I found the Camino the safest place on earth.
